CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
My body was hot in an unnatural way. Not like âooh, warm blankets wrapped around meâ but more like a sweaty furnace. Blake liked to joke that I was a cold-hearted bitch since I had a lot of blankets because I was always chilly, but that didnât seem to be the case today.
Fuck.
Shit.
Iâd fucked up.
My eyes sprang open instantly, and I had to bite my lip so I wouldnât scream bloody murder. For a second, Iâd forgotten all about last night.
Shit.
Fuck.
I did the nasty with Q.
âPromise me one thing,â he had said.
I was so crazy with lust I would have probably offered him my firstborn if heâd asked. Slutty Jess was about to combust, and she agreed to be his friend. Slowly, I removed myself from his hold. When he didnât stir, I let out a relieved sigh. I needed to get away from here and gather my thoughts before facing him again.
Mostly I was scared that he would open those gorgeous eyes and speak in that sexy tone, and slutty Jess would be back screaming âencore.â
No thanks.
I tiptoed to my closet, grabbed the first things I could find, and then I got the hell out of my house.
Perhaps it wasnât the wisest decision to leave my own house and do the walk of shame.
Was it even the walk of shame if he was in my bed? Was I even ashamed?
That didnât matter. I needed to focus on what did matter right now, and my state of shame wasnât on the list.
As I came to the living room, I came to a halt when I heard footsteps. Fuck. I was so fucked. Was Cubbie suddenly back?
Simba strutted his way to me, tongue sticking out and tail wagging. Shit I forgot about him for a second. He looked at me with that adorable face and I lost it.
âThis is all your fault,â I hissed.
He clearly didnât understand me because his tail wagged even more. Ignoring him since I didnât want his human to catch me in the act of leaving, I walked out the door without petting him.
I thanked the heavens for having a driveway that went downhill for the first time. I put the key in and switched it to neutral and just let the car do its thing, and once I was far enough, I turned on the engine. I couldnât take any chances on him coming out right now.
Without thinking, I made my way to Juliet and Jakeâs house. It was early, but they were early risers since they ran the store and made sure Rosie got ready for school. Unlike the rest of us, she wasnât an early riser.
I parked my car and used the key they gave me, but I had never used before, and let myself inside.
âMorning!â I yelled, walking in as a warning that someone had walked in, because I really didnât want to see Jake and Juliet going at it this early in the morning.
âYouâre here,â Jake said in surprise as he walked towards me with a mug of coffee.
