Chapter Thirteen

Olivia tried to talk to Sadie, but there was no dice. It was like she didn’t seem to care anymore, and Olivia felt a feeling of dread come over her.

Was it because of what happened that one night at the bar? She didn’t think it would be that bad, would it? Sadie was super quiet about whatever it was that was going on, and it made Olivia uneasy.

Was she hiding some sort of disease? Or was she hiding something about her past that she was frightened to come to terms with? It made her wonder many things, but she tried calling and calling again, but no dice.

Sadie wasn’t anywhere to be found. Olivia decided to go to the bar to see if there was anything else that she could do, but she noticed Sadie wasn’t there either. Just Frank.

"Oh, you’re here,” he said.

"Hi, is Sadie here?” she asked.

He shook his head.

"She may be a bit busy today,” he said.

Olivia paused, noticing how he wasn’t saying anything.

"Care to tell me what’s going on?” Olivia asked.

Frank looked at her with concern.

"You mean with Sadie? She's just going through some stuff,” he said.

"I know, but she’s been acting off for the last few days. And I'm worried about her,” Olivia said.

He nodded.

"I know you’re worried, but it’s really not my place to say,” he said.

Olivia looked into his eyes, trying to figure out what it was that she was hiding.

There was something there, something that Sadie didn’t want to tell anyone else. Finally, he spoke.

"If you can find her, she can tell you. I'll say right now that where she is will be a personal place, and a place she doesn’t even tell her closest friends about. But it’s a place where life and death are met together,” he said.

"What’s that supposed to mean? Is this some sort of weird cryptic code?” Olivia asked.

"You tell me Olivia. I'm not going to tell others for her privacy, but I also know that you’re worried. If you can find her, then do so. She’s hurting, and maybe you’re the person she’s been waiting to talk to,” he said.

Olivia didn’t know whether he was serious about this or not, or if there was something else, he tried to tell her but was unable to do so. Olivia struggled with figuring it out, and for now, the best thing for her to do was to just hope for the best.

Olivia walked out of the bar, realizing the answers wouldn't be there. So where to now? Where does one go when they need answers but have no damn clue where to get them?

"A place between life and death.”

Did he mean a church? No, that didn’t seem right.

Olivia thought about it, and that's when it hit her.

"A graveyard.

It was a place where goth life and death would meet, intermingling together, and it was fitting to the description. But what was she doing there?

Olivia turned on her phone, looking into the closest graveyards that were nearby. She found a place that was over on 3rd street, kind of close.
