Chapter 14

Weeks passed and Gail hadn't heard from Angie. She constantly called and texted her. She never received any answers or responses. She decided to stop pass her job and surprise her with lunch. She dropped the twins off at her mother-in-law's. Went to Angie's favorite deli and picked up Angie's favorite lunch combo. She headed to Angie's job. To her surprise they told her Angie was out on maternity leave. Gail was in shock. She had no idea Angie was pregnant. Why didn't Angie tell her? She had seen Angie at the girl’s birthday party. She didn't look pregnant. She didn't say anything about being pregnant. Well maybe she wasn't pregnant then. Gail racked her brain trying to remember the last time she saw Angie. It was the second week in February. A friend of theirs had a baby shower they attended. She didn't look pregnant. She certainly didn't mention being pregnant. Gail couldn't get to Angie's fast enough.

Gail rang the doorbell. There was no answer. She tried the door. It was locked. She knocked harder and rang the doorbell continuously. Still no answer. She knew Angie was there because her car was parked in the driveway. She tried to look through the window she couldn't see anything. She went around the back. She tried the door it was locked. She knocked. No answer. Then she banged still no answer. She tried calling the house phone. No answer then she called Angie's cell phone no answer. She turned and started to walk away when she heard the lock on the door click. She went back to the door and turned the knob it was miraculously unlocked. She slowly opened the door and went in. She saw Olivia run into the other room. There was a chair at the door. Olivia had pushed it there and climbed on it to unlock the door. Gail looked around. The kitchen was a mess. The sink was filled with dirty dishes. Old food and dirty dishes was on the table. Trash was all over the floor. Gail yelled for Angie. She went through the house calling Angie's name. When she got to the steps she saw Olivia. She was butt naked sitting on the steps tearing pages from a book and eating them. Gail picked her up. "Owe you stink. Where's mommy?" Gail put Olivia down. Olivia went up the steps. "Mommy sleep" Gail followed her. Angie was sprawled out on the hall floor. Gail shook her and called her name. Olivia patted her. “Mommy, mommy ake up". Angie routed around with her hand as if trying to find something. She pulled a bottle of wine from under her and turned it up to her head. She through the empty bottle across the floor. Olivia was patting her and trying to talk to her and kiss her face. She grabbed hold of her. "Shut up and get away from me you disgusting little bitch." Olivia fell into the banister. She was crying and babbling.
