In this one, I remembered that I'm also a legal expert:
WHAT DO I WANT?
The right to residence for gay common-law partners and spouses. The right to adoption for homosexual couples and single homosexuals. The right to marriage between people of the same sex. The legalization of all drugs and education as to their correct usage in schools. A European Marshall Plan for the destruction of all housing projects and their replacement by beautiful places. The teaching of all kinds of sexuality in schools. (Theoretical) examinations on fucking in the baccalaureate. The teaching of law in schools, so that people understand what civic rights are, what their civic rights are. Nonprofit nightclubs subsidized by the state. Cheaper drinks like in Amsterdam or London. To be able to dance every day. Nonprofit sex clubs subsidized by the authorities. The teaching of non-Western philosophies and forms of wisdom in schools: obligatory yoga and/or tai chi and/or seated meditation for all kids. The right to euthanasia. An absolute ban on the holding of multiple mandates. The subtraction of income tax directly from workersâ wages so people will realize that they aren't paid enough. The disappearance of civil service in all its forms. A levy on inheritance tax at US rates to break down the hereditary ruling class and make room for an aristocracy of merit. A gay helpline open twenty-four hours a day. A special helpline for gay teens in distress, free, open twenty-four hours a day, and subsidized by the public authorities, with ads for it everywhere (30 percent of teen suicides are homosexuals). Who'll sell me their old jockstraps in sizes S (if nicely worn out) and M? Price to be negotiated.
Political progress in our late twentieth century is playing out around the body and sex. What have been the most important political achievements in the last thirty years? Divorce by mutual consent, abortion, legal recognition and protection of homosexuality, legal recognition of transsexuality, soon the PACS. What is it a question of across these different cases? The right to freely dispose of one's body, without reference to a majority standard inherited from Judeo-Christianity and imposed by the state. This is also what people with tattoos and piercings proclaim, and all the guys who take drugs: I do what I want with my body. The Spanner judgment handed down in February 1997 by the European Court of Human Rights marked in an exemplary manner the complications and difficulties arising from the intractable internal contradiction for the ruling class between, on the one hand, a liberal philosophy that has been its driving force since the seventeenth century with the English Bill of Rights of 1688, and on the other hand, the fundamentalist theocratic ideal which it has inherited from the Church. What happened? Dozens of men over the age of eighteen had gathered in the private home of one of them to practice various forms of sexual relations. Some of these resulted in minor physical injuries. None of the injuries inflicted during the affair resulted in hospitalization or irreversible physical damage.
