Powder Laundry Detergent

Laundry detergent is fast and easy to make, and it is much more cost effective than the leading brands at the grocery store. Here's a simple recipe to follow:

3 cups washing soda

4 cups baking soda

2 cups castile soap (flakes)

15 drops essential oil

Mix everything together, and store in a glass jar. Add 2 tablespoons of the powder detergent to each load of laundry. This recipe is enough detergent for about 70 loads.

I like to use lavender essential oil in the laundry, but feel free to use any oil that you prefer. For example, if there is sickness in the house, I will sometimes add eucalyptus essential oil when I'm washing the sheets. Or, I really enjoy using citrus essential oils during the summertime.
