10.3 Myconanotechnology

The use of microorganisms in nanotechnology is one of the emerging scientific fields because of the fact that microorganisms aggregate inorganic material within or outside the cell to form nanoparticles (NPs). This microbial synthesis of NPs is one of the emerging eco-friendly approaches of green chemistry. It offers a connection between nanotechnology and microbial biotechnology. Use of fungi in nanotechnology for the synthesis of NPs is becoming popular day by day as they grow on readily available substrates which are inexpensive and produce wide range of commercially interesting metabolites.
