United States Air Force Academy

The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) has defined a Small UAS operating area in the northwest corner of the base in accordance with the FAA DoD MOU. The Cobra UAS flight area will utilize a subset of this area and operate within 1 NM from the landing strip. The pattern altitude is 600' AGL, and flight outside the landing pattern will be 2000' AGL and below. The center of the landing area is at N 39° 01' 02.54", W 104° 53' 30.79". The specific site is within Alert Area A260, but outside of KAFF Class D and Colorado Springs Class E airspace. The flight area is completely within the USAFA Base Boundary. The runway is a 1400' macadam strip oriented N/S between two athletic fields with an elevation of 7060'. Figure 2 shows the Containment Area, the landing pattern and runway. The USAFA will control ground access and limit USAF aircraft overflight during the demonstration. Operations at the USAFA will require written request (email is acceptable) from the Raytheon UAS Chief Pilot to AIR-200. An acknowledgement authorizing subsequent operations must be received from AIR-200 and attached to these operating limitations.
