If I could pass a universal law, I would give everybody one additional good friend—and make sure that nobody feels left out. And I believe the way we design our homes and neighborhoods can play an important part in that ambition. We need to consider both how we get people to meet in the first place and how we get people to connect, then make sure that no one feels left out and that we form meaningful relationships.

Happiness for dinner

My favorite table is the dinner table. The dinner table is a unifier, a place of community. It is where we connect. It is where we learn about the world, where our language is developed and where we reconnect with our loved ones. For the past decade, I’ve been interested in the question “How can we eat better?” Not just from a nutritional perspective, but from a happiness one as well.
