Daniel

The server places a heart-shaped slice of chocolate lava cake between us and two spoons, then slips away.

“Wow,” Alicia breathes. “It’s almost too pretty to eat. And I’m almost too full to eat another bite.”

“Think you’ve got a little pocket of room left?” I ask, breaking off a bite with the spoon. Like magic, a flood of hot, molten chocolate spills out. I lift the bite to her lips—which I can’t stop thinking about tasting again—and watch as she delicately accepts the bite.

“Mmm,” she says throatily, and I clench my hand around the spoon handle. I want to hear that sound again—but I want to be the one pulling it from her. “Delicious.”

I bet you’re delicious. Chocolate cake is great and all, but I want the dessert between her thighs.

My cock hardens for the umpteenth time that night. Chill, Daniel. First date.

Alicia picks up her champagne flute, and I follow suit. “To the best first date I’ve ever had,” she says, as if reading my mind.

“I will absolutely drink to that.” I take a sip, locking eyes with her. I’ve kept it to water for the night, since I am on call, which I explained to Alicia. So far so good, though, and I want nothing more than to finish the night with her.

We share the dessert, our legs grazing under the table. My desire ratchets up another notch. Alicia is pure sexiness in that red dress sitting across from me—the snug garment hugs all of her luscious curves, and the neckline dips low enough for me to get a peek at her bountiful cleavage. I want her more than I can put into words—and not just for tonight. Not just for Valentine’s Day. For as long as she’ll let me have her.

We exchanged our sad love stories over our meals. I told her about my past toxic relationship, and she told me about hers. I winced as I heard the way she discovered her ex’s cheating by walking in on it…on Valentine’s Day. The fact that she’s here with me on this holiday after that leaves me awestruck.

“I never thought I’d be sitting here on a day like today,” she says. “I mean, I was ready to hate Valentine’s Day for the rest of my life.”

I flash her a teasing smile. “Says the florist.”

She shrugs. “But…you’ve really turned it around for me, Daniel. Thank you. This night has been so special.”

“It has,” I agree quietly. “Thanks for giving me a chance.”

Alicia smirks. “Well, you’re the hot hero firefighter who saved my life. It wasn’t really a hard sell.”

I chuckle, reaching for her hand. “I don’t want tonight to end.”

She draws a breath that trembles at the end. “Then…let’s not let it.”

A lightning bolt of desire shoots through me, but I keep my voice steady. “What else would you like to do? I think I saw a place to get carriage rides not far from here. Or maybe we could head to a café and have some hot chocolate?”

“We could.” Alicia pushes aside the half-eaten cake with her free hand and leans toward me.
