What a delight this baby is!

How I love his gurgles and laughter,

his wet kisses as he grabs

my face in his hands.

His squeals of glee as he

paddles his legs in the bathtub,

spraying water over me and all his toys.

What intense love I feel for him—

particularly during those moments

as he lies quietly in my arms,

nursing at my breast

then reaching for my face

to rub noses with me.

How passionate I am about

my child. I want to protect him

from pain or harm.

Is that how you feel about me, Lord?
