If you’re always looking for extra storage space, stackable shelves may be the answer. And they’re easy to make.

Step 1 Measure the space where the shelves will go.

Step 2 Once you have your measurement, mark it on your wood and cut it to size. Any sturdy wood will do; it all depends on how strong and wide you want the shelves.

Step 3 Cut your side pieces first. The shelves can be any height you want, but I’d suggest about ten inches.

Step 4 When all the pieces are cut, you’ll want to sand them smooth so they’ll fit together well.

Step 5 Clean away any dust and turn the two smaller pieces up on end. Apply a generous amount of glue to each and place the longer piece on top.

Step 6 Clamp both ends securely and allow the glue to dry. Once it’s dry, you can put in a few finishing nails for extra support.
