Chapter Thirteen

Connor hadn’t meant to find himself back here. He’d meant to prove something. That he could be as aggressive and flippant as she. That he wasn’t a coward who was just going to pretend the first kiss hadn’t happened. No, things weren’t going to go down that way.

But he hadn’t meant to kiss her again. It was too dangerous. Just a little touch, and a verbal jab that would leave her off kilter. That had been the plan. He’d been certain it would work.

But she’d looked at him with all that fire, and she hadn’t fought him off like he knew she could have. And he just...

Went with it.

Whatever she’d been thinking when she’d originally kissed him, he didn’t know, but it had unlocked something inside of him. Because here, with her mouth meeting his kiss for kiss, nip for nip, he didn’t think. Couldn’t think.

It was just her and lust and greed and absolutely no thought to anything beyond having his hands on her. His mouth on her. Having her.

“I want you,” he found himself saying against her mouth, hands tangled in her hair as she wound herself around him—arms banded around his neck, legs vised around his waist.

“So have me.”

She was wrapped around him so he only had to shift his grip on her to lift her up, walk her deeper into the cabin.

“Bedroom somewhere,” he muttered, his brain feeling a bit like it had been fried. He was okay with that as long as her body kept pressed against him, all that heat, all that strength.

He stumbled into a dark room, and only bothered to find a light switch because if he was going to be this stupid, he was damn well going to enjoy it. He flipped the switch and headed straight for the bed, never quite taking his mouth from hers.

How could he? Here was power and he wanted all he could drink of it. He dropped her to the bed, and before he could follow her hands were busy pulling his shirt over his head. He accommodated her, then pulled her shirt off. They stripped each other, touching every inch of skin exposed like two people lost in the desert finding water after days.

She was perfect. Lean and toned. Soft, with all that hair. He couldn’t keep his hands out of it. Couldn’t seem to take his mouth off her. Dimly he was aware this was a terrible idea, and they had far more important things to busy themselves with.

But her hands closed over him and there went any thoughts—dim or otherwise.

Then there was nothing but a wild need neither one of them seemed to know how to satisfy. It was all tangled limbs and rolling bodies and muttered curses that didn’t quite make sense. They joined together in a storm that overwhelmed him completely, when he’d always had his two feet under him—good weather or bad.

But she was something wholly unique. He wasn’t sure he’d survive it—or that he wanted to. Pleasure was an avalanche he wanted to be buried in.
