James had stopped for a night in a village miles off the beaten track. As evening drew on he was chatting with some Lisu in a doorway when he saw some men passing on the road. He stood up and peered through the failing light. One of them was no less an angel than Ba Thaw.

If there was anyone in the wide world he would have chosen to meet at this time it was Ba Thaw. To meet him in so obscure a place among the mountains just couldn’t have been accidental.

Ba Thaw was visiting the few Lisu Christians he already knew. He had just arrived, and his eyes widened to hear all that had been happening. Of course he knew each village and understood the people. He was the natural shepherd God had provided for this little church.
