_CHAPTER 10 – MILES_

-A promise is a promise-

T

he Alpha wolf runs this show. I am said wolf. Do not fear me for I will bring you pleasure beyond your wildest dreams.

You shall only fear me when you have done wrong. This wolf will track you down and make you confess your sins. No amount of running will sway this outcome; you will only piss off this wolf. You have been warned.

At the computer working on Lili’s case trying to wrap my head around the years of secrecy behind it all, I made my own digital file and now have an organized list of the who, what, when, where, and all I need is the damn reason why. I see no excuse other than mixing medications with alcohol. That is not an excuse, that is someone playing a dangerous game with their life, other’s lives, and a child’s life. The subconscious mind will tell the story of someone who’s had previous thoughts on this subject. He wanted to act them out prior to being sloshed.

On top of Lili’s case I am also tracking down qualified service members within Europe to add to the team. This in turn has led me to discover some of these service members have not dealt with their trauma well, and a few have even taken their lives. The ones that are sane enough, and determined to get back into the game, these men and women will start this process; we will train them, secure them on missions, allow them to experience the freedom of thinking for themselves, rather than having the military do it for them. This in turn will have these members talking about it to their interested friends. Young doesn’t know this quite yet, but I’d say within the next six months Axis Security’s European headquarters will have many opportunistic patrons ready and willing to take on cases in Europe, and worldwide. Nowhere will go untouched.

My biggest dilemma about everything all at once is how burnout out is real. Also, Computers were never my strong suit. Young can crack into classified files like it’s nothing, or hack into the cameras at nearby shops to track a person of interest. It blew my mind how fast he moves.

I can say, after a sixteen-hour day, my eyes are straining for a break, and my belly called for food.

Once in the main room I find it quiet, no telly playing a program, no washer going in the kitchen. I heard her get home a while ago, heard the shower running, thought I could hear her singing along to music. I’ve gone too long without her near me. Time to fix this.

Avery padded down the corridor toward me, her hair pulled into a messy twist, and my favorite superhero shirt is big and baggy on her, but she doesn’t mind it. I like her in my clothing, and out of them, too. Not to mention, under that shirt rests a pair of bright lacey pink cheekies, as she called them.
