I came to in a wheelbarrow next to the gazebo. A knot the size of a golf ball throbbed on the back of my head. However, the origins of my current predicament were foggy at best.

What was I doing outside? How did I get into a handcart? My face pinched as I tried to sort through my bits of memories. It wasn’t a part of the looping, was it?

It took three attempts before I could extract myself from the wheelbarrow. I stumbled into the house to get some ice for my head.

Sitting in the corner of the kitchen, my elbows on the table and a bag of frozen peas pressed to the back of my skull, I tried to retrace my steps. The last thing I remembered was heading outside to walk the perimeter of the house.

Maybe I went to look at the restoration work on the gazebo and tripped over some lumber or a stray tool. I could’ve hit the back of my head when I fell into the wheelbarrow. But where did the wheelbarrow come from? Something about Gladys? I couldn’t be sure.

Norman appeared, and, when he saw my predicament, became agitated. “What’s happened, madam? Are you unwell?”

I lifted my aching head and sighed. “Norman, do you remember this from any of the previous loops?”

He shook his ghostly head. “No, madam. I feel certain this incident is brand new.”
