The Triune decided since I needed a familiar, I wouldnât go to any classes until I had one. So, I made my way to my room.
Halfway there, a guy with red hair and bright green eyes walked towards me.
He stopped and watched me. âSo, youâre the one everyone is here for?â he asked.
I shrugged. âApparently.â
He arched a brow and looked me over from head to toe. âYou donât look like much. Guess thatâs why youâll need more than one guardian.â
I bristled at his statement. âIf you donât want to be here, the door is that way.â I jerked my thumb in the opposite direction and walked by him.
I stomped up the stairs, slammed my door closed, and fell on my bed.
Didnât they understand that I didnât want this any more than they did? They didnât have to be jerks to me. I couldnât control this.
If I could, I would leave Moon Academy and never look back.
I dozed off and woke to someone knocking on my door.
Stumbling, I opened it while rubbing my eyes.
Nick scowled down at me. âYou okay?â
I nodded and yawned. âTook a nap.â
âItâs time for dinner. You missed lunch,â he said and stepped back so I could exit my room.
Now I understood his scowl.
I followed him down the stairs. âHow were your classes?â
He growled. âI donât like the guys here. Most are cocky and irritating.â
I nodded as my mind recalled the jerk from the hallway earlier. âI agree.â
Nick rubbed his shoulder against mine, and I could sense his need for reassurance through touch.
I held out my hand, palm up, at my side.
He looked at it, his eyes widened, and then he intertwined our fingers.
Instantly, his shoulders relaxed and he exhaled audibly.
He pushed open the door to the dining hall, and I steeled myself for the guys to approach me.
Surprisingly, I made it to the table Tom and Gary were at before anyone approached. I sat between Nick and Gary, across from Tom.
The first guy to approach was freaking hot. Chiseled jaw with a bit of stubble and dreamy blue eyes, plus a perfect smile drew me in. he held out his hand. âIâm Mo.â
I shook his hand and returned his smile. âHi, Mo. Iâm Sarah.â
âCan I join you?â he asked.
âNo,â Nick and Gary said at the same time I said, âSure.â
He sat across from me, next to Tom. âHow was your first day?â he asked.
I sighed. âNot good. How was yours?â
Nick was staring at me like I had grown a second head.
Mo frowned. âNot good? Want to talk about it?â
I shook my head. âNot really.â
âWell, Iâm always available if you need someone to listen,â Mo said with a soft smile.
Tom pushed a glass of water in front of me. âYouâre dehydrated.â
I took it and drank a big gulp. âThanks.â
âIâm Tom,â he said to Mo and held out his hand.
Mo shook hands with him with a smile. âNice to meet you.â
âYouâre a shifter?â I asked Mo as I looked at him.
He nodded. âTiger.â
I gaped. âWhat? Thereâre more than wolves?â
Mo laughed.
