CHAPTER FOUR

MONSTER MAZE!

The next day, Theseus equips himself with Aria’s winch. Then he meets Bullistic atop a hill overlooking the Monster Maze. The course twists and turns for miles and miles into the distance.

A crowd gathers at the maze entrance. Everytruck is there, including his favorite ThunderTrucks, Perseus and Hercules. Theseus spots Aria as well.

Soon, a race official rolls over to the two competitors. “The rules are simple,” she tells them. “First one to the middle of the maze — and back — wins!”

The official raises a green starting flag and begins the countdown.

“One!” she yells.

Theseus revs his engine.

VROOOOOM! VROOOOOM!

“Two!” the official continues her count.

SNNOOOORRTT!

As Theseus expects, Bullistic lets out a deafening blast from his horn-shaped pipes. And once again, no truck hears the official say, “Three!” But Bullistic takes off anyway.

Before racing after him, Theseus hooks the winch to a tree near the entrance of the Monster Maze. Then — FWOOSH! — he speeds off with the cable unraveling behind him.
