Das Unbehagen in der Kultur (1930)
Das Unbehagen in der Kultur represents a much later stage in Freudâs thought than the five lectures of Ãber Psychoanalyse: it is based on the structural or tripartite model of the mind and draws on the idea of the death drive. It is, moreover, a much more difficult text, partly because of the complexity of the argument but partly also because (as elsewhere in Freudâs later work) the relation between the three mental agencies and the death drive is by no means as clear as one would wish.
