Hey Ma,

I got your letter yesterday. Your letter calmed me down, a lot! I was so angry after that last court date. What’s up with Aniyah? Has the attorney been able to contact her? I can’t believe she didn’t show up. After all that time I spent with her. Bringing her around my boyz, hanging out with her. She wrote me saying she would tell what really happened. Girls out here really can’t be trusted. That’s cool tho'. I don’t need her anyways. I’m deadin’ that situation.

So, anyways, back to your letter. I promise I’m not gonna be no fool in here, Ma. I’m trying hard to stay out the way. I don’t want to get sent to the hole for nothing. It’s so many guys coming through here, getting into fights, and getting sent to the hole.

You remember the twins I told you about? Well, one of them, Jabri, got sent to the hole for a month for fighting. He got caught with a make-shift knife. I feel sorry for him, Ma. He only made the knife because he kept getting jumped in here when his brother wasn’t around. They work in two different areas, so Jabri was always a target when his brother wasn’t there to help him. He got two years added to his time for making the knife and using it in the fight. He messed dude up pretty good. We were on lock-down for the rest of the day after that happened. We had to eat our dinner in our cells.

Speaking of food. You know how y’all have impossible meat? Well, we got something called mystery meat. Just one ice-cream scoop of slop. And I don’t mean sloppy Joe. I can’t wait to go home so I can eat some of Grammy’s good ol’ cooking! Tell her I miss her Sunday meals.

Are you able to put any money on my books for phone calls or more commissaries? If you don’t, I understand. I just really miss y’all. Miss hearing y’all voices. I know you said you spent a lot of money on my calls the first couple of months I was in here. But when you can, please add some money to my account so I can call y’all.

Oh, and I like the new lawyer. He was talking to me and I was able to explain my side of the story. He’s nothing like the other lawyer. You think he’ll be able to get me outta here? I hope so. I can’t stay locked up in here. Sometimes I feel like I’m gonna scream or hit the brick wall. I’m trying to control my anger, but sometimes I can't, and sometimes I wanna give up. Remember when I told you about my first two nights here? How I slept on this cold, brutally hard floor? Well, I thought for sure I was gonna get outta here. That this was just some type of mistake. Nothing or no one could’ve told me months later that I would still be in here.
