New York City hosts the largest St. Patrick’s Day parade in the world. The route goes straight up Fifth Avenue past the cathedral. The first parade was held on March 17, 1762, just 14 years before the Declaration of Independence.

Eat at restaurant

In 2010 the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene began issuing grades to restaurants after routine sanitary inspections. Failure of management to post the grades can result in fines of $1,000 to $2,000.

Eat at home

A grade of A is issued to places receiving 0–13 violation points, B for 14–27, and C for 28-plus. Three consecutive grades of C will cause the restaurant to be closed. The good news is that most restaurants get A’s.
