Midas.

Yellow.

Let’s get dressed,

Midas.

I want this one.

Eat your banana,

Dinoboo!

Whee!

I wish my house was yellow.

I wish my car was yellow.

I wish Mommy was yellow . . .

. . . I wish Dinoboo

was yellow!

No more yellow!!!

Wishy washy

wishy washy

wishy washy

wish . . .

I like yellow, but I love you

just the way you are.

The Greek god Dionysus wanted to thank King Midas for

a favor, so he promised to grant Midas one wish. Midas

wanted to be rich. He wished that everything he touched

would turn to a yellow metal called gold. At first, his wish

went well. When he touched a tree branch, a rock, and a

clump of dirt, each one turned to gold. This made them

worth a lot of money. But then Midas tried to eat dinner.

His food turned to gold before he could take a single bite!

He was hungry, but he couldn’t eat gold. In some versions

of this myth, Midas hugged his own daughter and turned

her to gold, too. By now, his wish had made him very sad,

so Midas begged Dionysus to reverse it. Dionysus told

him to go wash away his “golden touch” in the Pactolus

River. At last, Midas was free of his wish!
