North Coast Brewing Company

Founded in 1988 by Mark Ruedrich, Tom Allen and Joe Rosenthal. Their Taproom, Restaurant & Bar at 444 North Main Street in Fort Bragg was also their production facility. They initially packaged in ­750-ml bottles. In November of 1994, they began to brew at their current production facility across the street at 455 North Main Street.

The Acme Brewery of San Francisco was established in 1907 by Leopold Schmidt.216 For a time, Standard Bottling Company, Fort Bragg Distributors in Fort Bragg had packaged Acme beer for northern distribution. The brand then ceased to exist. In 1996, the North Coast Brewing Company revived the brand name and started brewing Acme Pale Ale. In 1999, they introduced Acme IPA. The North Coast Brewing Company also produces Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout, Red Seal Ale, PranQster Belgian Style Golden Ale, and other ­year-round beers.

The North Coast Brewing Company focuses on social equity, sustainability, and environmental responsibility. They are a Certified B Corporation (B Lab headquartered in Berwyn, PA), and they are Total Resource Use and Efficiency (TRUE) Zero Waste Platinum Certified (Green Business Certification, Inc. [GBCI]). They also are involved in carbon farming, and use solar energy.217
