Chapter 19 – Sara

This had to be the longest week of my life. Every single day seemed to drag on since Lucas was not close to me. Even though Lucas and I talked or texted almost every day I still missed him.

“Please tell me Lucas comes back today. I’m so tired of seeing you moping around,” Rachel said as she flopped down in a chair across from my desk.

I smiled at my friend. “Yes he should be here in a few hours.” I did miss him terribly. It was so surreal how these past few weeks had been. I didn’t think it was possible for me to move on from Jake. Every night I talked to Lucas, I felt closer to him. During this week, he told me stories from his college days and being in the NHL. I told him about some of my college experiences and law school. I also opened myself to him about my parents and our lack of a relationship. I told him lots of things but nothing of Jake and the relationship we had. Lucas was aware I was in a longer relationship, before him, but I never went into details. I was still too scared to talk about it. Sure, it seemed silly but the pain was still too deep.

“I must say, moping aside, I am glad Fun-Sara is back. Even if it just a little bit,” Rachel said.

In the past week, Rachel and I went shopping, gone out to dinner, and I had enjoyed myself more than I had in a very long time. Each day I felt a little more alive and refreshed. I couldn’t know if I could have taken that step without Rachel and Lucas.

“I’m glad to be back too. It’s all because of Lucas and you,” I said honestly. Tears filled my eyes and for the first time in a long time, I felt normal. I still had bad moments, but all I had to do was think of Lucas and that was all that was needed to pull me out of my slump.

“Do you have plans tonight with Lucas? Do they involve you getting naked?” Rachel wagged her eyebrows up and down.

“Rachel,” I gasped. Leave it to my best friend to make me turn so red that I my head might explode.

“What?” She looked at me innocently. “Don’t you want to get naked?”

“Well,” my face was about to catch fire I was blushing so much. “Yes, but I don’t want to push the subject either. The night, before he left, was nuts and fantastic all rolled into one.” That night my emotions were everywhere. After having my revelation at the game I pretty much threw myself at him. I was happy, sexually aroused and nervous at the same time, but I could not keep my hands off of him. On top of that, I practically shouted “thank you” to him as he walked out because it was the greatest night I had had in, well, I didn’t even know how long.
