Chapter Six

Timor sat alone in the living long after the others had gone to bed. The lights were off and only the tree was lit. The red, green, blue and white lights sparkled in the darkness. His eyes traveled to the winter village Edward had put up earlier. It did remind him of home somewhat but the streets weren’t as clean back home as the village was here.

On his tour of the city this morning, he had the chance to look around and really see what was there. He saw the signs of Christmas everywhere and Daisy had told him all he really needed was to look at the awe in the children’s faces.

Then he got a phone call from Roman tonight. Christmas would have to wait. There was a threat against the Bratva leaders of which he was one. Not the ones being hunted but he still belonged to the organization as a whole. “Eto piz`dets!” he swore aloud.

Some bastard wanted Sergi, Nikoli and the brothers dead. He would be in the city by the coming dawn. Timor had never felt so helpless as he felt that night. Roman had asked him to stay away from the city, to stay where he was and protect his new family.

He couldn’t help but remember when he first met Roman. Damn, had he been proud. The man stood at over 6 foot 4 and was built like a tank. But it wasn’t just that. It was his strength and will that Timor unfortunately, came up against….

….Iosif had stared between the two men that were his father and apparently, his brother. He nodded at Roman. “I remember you now. But I was only two when father found me and took me away. He gave me the name Iosif. That’s the name I grew up with. Iosif Maxim.” He studied Roman for a moment then called out his name, “Rommie.”

Roman grinned briefly. “I remember you calling me that a very long time ago. You were just beginning to talk if I recall.” He turned to Timor. “You, I don’t know at all.”

“I am your father. My name is Timor Maxim.”

“So I understand.” Roman nodded. “How did you find out about us? I know you found Vlad when he was small but how did you find out about me? And why are you here now?”

“I met your mother just over forty years ago and we were together for a short time. Then she disappeared and I didn’t see her again for about five years. When we met up again, we continued where we left off and again, she disappeared on me. I vowed I would find her the second time she left and I searched for her for three long years. Then I heard she was living in Moscow and I tracked her down to the apartment you had been living in. When I got there, she was gone and I found my son.” He motioned at Iosif. “I knew then what happened. I also knew he was my son.
