“What the hell is wrong with you? Goldy has worked her ass off trying to please you. I’m sure Joanna has as well. You, oh my Goddess.” Sam put his hands up, gripping his fists, holding them in front of his forehead. “Who are you?”

“Don’t even defend her, you’re my family, my blood—”

“And Goldy is my mate.” He growled back with a predatory, protective Alpha sound. He glanced at Goldy, her eyes, wide and her mouth open. He’d not even been able to take the slow, romantic ride toward infinity bliss. Waiting for her to fall for him so he could tell her, show her. He didn’t even know if she was aware of the claim he’d just staked. Once again, his sister had ruined yet another piece of his life. “There’s no time to redo everything. There’s no damn time to redo anything. And if there was, I wouldn’t let her.”

“She needs to be like you…and make time.” She waved her fingers. “Now, scadattle, fix this, all of this. Now.”

A loud bolt of thunder struck from outside.

The warm sensations he’d felt last night were coursing through his body. He was no longer unclear on the cause. It was the Goddess herself, helping him, warning him to go protect his mate. Sam could almost hear the pieces of the puzzle clinking together. “Ooooooooo, little sister, I don’t even think you have a clue who you’re messing with now.”

A man walked through the open front double doors. He had to be the plainest, definitely the palest, completely off trendy dresser he’d ever seen. Hell, his clothes were so out of style, Sam didn’t think he could name the decade they were from or if he’d just thrown four or five mismatched pieces together.

“Hi. I’m Luc McMuffinBeaudoix. Hello, my dear, are you ready to get married today?”

Mack scanned the small gathering, each and every single one of them were gawking speechless at this funny little balding man.

“Whoa wowza. I could have bet on this in a million years. Just didn’t see it comin’ from another realm.” Rox, Marigold’s brother kept shaking his head, his face blank and repeating the same thought over and over with different words.

Sam felt the same way. No wonder Samantha had never introduced him. Her family would have laughed his scrawny ass and paunchy belly right out of the house. The man had probably graduated MIT a hundred years prior, then never left his desk again, making sure to avoid sunlight at all costs.

“I have, I’m sorry, I gotta know dude, you—her. For real? Did you…what, do her taxes?” Rox asked, taking the smack on his upper arm from Joanna.

But truly, Sam had to know also.
