The Prestigious prepared to go into Locality Seven to assist the Chief of Maintenance. People from the maintenance personnel stood in the Central Hub. The Central Hub had four hundred cameras in each Locality, except for Locality Seven, where all cameras had been neutralized. After the first six months after Locality Seven’s closure, the people inside started to get aggressive. They felt abandoned and disconnected, so they destroyed the cameras.

“Alright gentlemen, we are about to go into Locality Seven, everybody got their chevron?” asked the Chief of Maintenance.

Smith, the lead officer, confusedly asked, “Sir, do we really need eight of the Prestigious to go in Locality Seven? I’m sure they all are dead. I mean, it’s been an entire year.”

“Yes, but it’s better to have it and not need it than need and not have it. But you all have your Chevrons, just in case we approach any resistance,” said the Chief of Maintenance.

Smith stated, “Yes, sir.”

“But I have to go in and reset the satellite conductor. This conductor will not allow us to reset it from the Central Hub. It’s in the middle of all Localities. I got the others, but I just need this one,” said the Chief of Maintenance.

Smith asked, “So, can’t we just leave the conductor in Locality Seven, and just use the power of the other six Localities?”

“I wish it was that simple, however if we don’t synchronize all seven conductors, it will render the satellite non-operational. It’s not a power thing, it’s more of a unity thing. Our forefather built the city where all the Localities would need each other.”

Smith turned to the Prestigious and yelled out, “Alright, gentlemen, once we are in Locality Seven, surround the Chief. You three protect the Chief’s six, you the left side, you the right side, you two and I will protect his front. Let’s move.”

The Chief of Maintenance pulled out a small tablet and put the codes to open Locality Seven, and the eight-inch-thick tungsten door let out a loud roar as it gave into the control of the tablet. The Prestigious and Chief of Maintenance went into the Locality and closed the door behind them.

The city was demolished, with trash and burned papers, and graffiti. Houses burned, schools, churches and buildings decimated.

One of the Prestigious officers looked at the damages and cried out, “Oh my God.”

The Chief of Maintenance pulled the tablet up to get decisive directions to where the reset beacon was transmitting.

While the destruction was encamped all around them, the Chief let out a faint, “This way.”

Smith noticed the ceilings were blackened with smoke from the fires of Locality Seven. The charred blackish gray smoke replaced the black paint that once was tattooed the ceiling.

The tablet said it was forty-nine minutes away. They all walked carefully with their Chevrons activated. The Chevrons were similar to a taser gun, mixed with a police baton. The shaft-like area was carbon fiber, while the top of it incapacitated its victims with a taser. Similar to a cattle prod, but with lower voltages.
