Genius walked down the hall heading to her office with a little pep in her step on Thursday morning. She was so happy that she was not in the doghouse anymore. And after last night, Genius found out firsthand that make up sex is the best sex after all.
“SFC Reynolds,” SGM Jefferson called out when he saw Genius pass by his office.
“Yes?”
“Can you step in here for a moment?”
“Sure.” Genius diverted into SGM Jefferson’s office where she found two security forces soldiers standing in the back of the room.
“Have a seat,” SGM Jefferson directed.
“Is there a problem Sergeant?” Genius asked looking at the Security Police behind her.
“Something serious had been brought to our attention that needs to be dealt with immediately.”
“Okay.”
SGM Jefferson cleared his throat then began, “An accusation has been brought against you by one of your students.”
“Accusation…? What kind of accusation?”
“Sexual harassment….”
“What?” Genius said surprised. “That’s bullshit!”
“SFC Reynolds, control yourself,” SGM Jefferson warned. Genius sat up in the chair, trying to compose herself but she just couldn’t believe what she was hearing.
“I apologize for my outburst but this is not true AT ALL!”
“Regardless, there will be an investigation in the matter so I suggest you go to the JAG office and talk with them about obtaining legal representation.”
“Who is it?” Genius asked. “I have a right to know who my accuser is.”
Hesitantly, SGM Jefferson revealed, “It’s Staff Sergeant Simmons and I suggest you keep your distance from her.” That conniving little bitch, Genius thought.
“And one more thing SFC Reynolds,” SGM Jefferson continued, “Until this investigation is final, you’ll be relieved of your duties here at the school effective immediately.”
“Are you serious?”
“Unfortunately so.”
Genius nodded her head, stood to her feet, and asked, “Is that all Sergeant?”
“This is a very serious offense, SFC Reynolds. Not one that should be taken lightly. They have already started questioning your students about your conduct with SSgt Simmons during the class session.”
Confidently, Genius replied, “These allegations are not true so I’m not worried, Sergeant.”
“I hope you’re right but in any case, your life is going to be an open book from here on out.” The next statement SGM Jefferson spoke as if to warn Genius. “Even if they don’t find relevant evidence leading to the sexual harassment claim, anything else that may come up in the investigation might be fair game in other matters.” Genius remained standing in disbelief. Today was supposed to be a good day for her but now, she could see that the storm clouds hadn’t passed; they just paved the way for Hurricane Evelyn to roll in and cause a substantial amount of damage.
“The officers behind you will escort you to the Office of Special Investigation, the OSI building. There are some questions they have for you down there pertaining to the allegation.”
Genius was not handcuffed but she was placed in the back of the law enforcement vehicle, which made her feel like a criminal. She was embarrassed because some of her students who were running late saw her as the car passed by and the look on their face showed they knew why she was in there.
