I said I wasn’t going to fall in love.

I put some food down for Abigail, though I must have missed her—maybe it was too late, even for nocturnal creatures. I worried about her for a moment, before my mind returned to Robin.

I rummaged in my bedside drawer for my phone charger and my hand landed on a packet of pills.

I had taken them that morning, hadn’t I? Or was it yesterday?

It didn’t matter really. Because I felt good, great even. I found my charger and closed the drawer. I’d take them tomorrow and it would be fine.
