Truly terrifying

Many today have been woefully lulled into complacency about terrorism because of our strong military and the great strides they have made against the persistent terror threat under the strong leadership of President Trump.

On a recent visit to Israel, I realized how amazing Israel is—this tiny country surrounded by and under constant threat from Islamist terrorists. Israel is amazing because it still exists!

As I laid that mental template over the West in this moment, it didn’t seem very far-fetched to visualize America as the only surviving capitalist, freedom-loving, non-Islamist country if Western Europe continues to fall to Sharia law.

I am re-convicted to dissect and research terror at its roots, and in its complexity. I found some answers.

Few things are as difficult to understand as the West’s refusal to acknowledge the Islamist roots of terrorism. Why do we excuse the wholesale slaughter of people simply because Sharia doesn’t like them?

Take gays, frequently thrown from buildings in Islamist countries, simply because they are gay.

Take women, often stoned to death and considered one-sixth of a human being by legal standards in many Islamic countries. Women aren’t allowed to vote, or drive, or be educated. In many cases, they aren’t even allowed to show their faces. They are subject to arranged marriages that are often abusive. There is no escape for them. That’s not even to mention the “honor killings” in America, that our media sweep under the rug on an almost daily basis.

To understand the psychology of those tolerating the killing, we should understand the psychology of those doing the killing.
