“Are you okay?”

I blink at him. “Damon! How did you get in?”

He raises an eyebrow at me. “You left your door open.”

“I did?” That seems like a weird thing for me to have done, but I guess I’d been kind of in a daze since Finn left.

“Dean told me you were talking about having kids.”

“He told you that?” I seriously doubted it. I might not mind them talking about me, but Dean was very private. Which kind of sucked for him considering his vampire ‘brothers’ could easily tap into what he was thinking at any given moment. Nothing could truly be hidden between them.

He shrugs and sits down next to me. “You know what I mean. It was all he could think about.”

“I’m just going through some weird stuff. I’ll snap out of it.”

“You were attracted to the human for a reason.” Damon always seems to cut straight to the point.

“Human or not, I can’t conceive.” I don’t know why that makes me want to cry right now when I spent centuries never giving it a second thought.

“There are ways,” he starts to tell me.

I open my mouth to protest and he shakes his head.

“I know. Not now. Not the way things are, but someday, Maeve. We can plan it out. We can think about what you’ll need.”

I push the cushion to the ground and slide into his lap. He gives me a lopsided smile as I unbuckle his belt. “This is why I love you.”

The words come out in a rush, and I’m pulling his cock out of his jeans and impaling myself on it before I even realize what I just told him. His gaze is steady as he grasps my ass to still my motion for a second. “You love me?”

I should laugh it off, say no. Don’t be stupid. I’m a thousand years old. I’ve evolved past crazy human notions. Anything to deny how I’m feeling right now. Instead, I nod slowly. “I love you, Damon.”

He kisses me, and when he stares at me again, his eyes have darkened that tiny little extra bit that means he’s vamped out. “I love you too.
