WE FLY OUT TODAY to the next race. I can’t wait to get out of town for the next four days. Hopefully, work will help me keep my mind from going to the same sad place it always does. I get in a day before Cooper, so I’m going to stay with both Kenna and Maddie for the first night, and then with him the rest of the time there. Tomorrow is press day, and they’re going to eat up Cooper. This is his first outing since the accident happened. Both Ryan and Cooper have left the spotlight to concentrate on getting better and ignore all the gossip that has been lingering around them. Their managers have been handling all the press. Now it’s time for him to step up, lay to rest the rumors, and show everyone that he’s ready to ride again.

“Girl, you packed?”

“I am, Maddie, the better question is, are you?”

“Screw you, Ans,” she says, giggling out of my room.

“Kenna,” she yells through the kitchen on her way to her room. “Ansley’s not being nice,” she says in her best whiney voice.

I can’t help but laugh; Maddie is such a nut. Half the time I can’t tell if she’s serious or if she’s joking. Then there are the times that she has no filter on her mouth and you’re scared just thinking what might come out of it.

Traveling went smoothly, we went to dinner once we got here, checked into the hotel, and are now in bed talking about what our plans are for tomorrow.

“What time do we have to be there for pictures at the track?” Kenna asks, walking out of the bathroom, which is attached to a little living room in the suite that they are staying in.

“I think one, why?” Maddie yells from the other bathroom.

“Just wondering what time we need to be ready by. How far is the track?”

“The email said the car will be here by noon to get us,” I let them both know.

“Okay, then we need our beauty rest, girls. Up at nine to get the day started?”

“I’m cool with that, Ans. Oh, are you sleeping with me? Say yes so I can rub it in Cooper’s face that you slept next to me all night.”

“Sure, Maddie.” Grabbing my bag, I head to her room, giggling.

Before going to bed, she and I talk for just a bit more and then we settle in. Just as I’m ready to doze off, my phone buzzes letting me know of a message.

“Tell Cooper I said hello,” Maddie says, snuggling her pillow. “Oh, and that you’re in my bed tonight.”

I smile over at her. “I will.”

Cooper—Just wanted to say goodnight, Beautiful.

Me—Goodnight to you too. Travel safe tomorrow morning.

Cooper—I will. I miss you already.

Me—Before I forget, Maddie wanted me to tell you I’m in her bed. And I’m missing you just as much. She’s not much of a cuddler.

Cooper—Haha, tell Maddie she better keep her hands off you or I’ll kick her ass. You’re mine, Ansley Young.
