Lotan

The food was satisfying. I wanted to make sure Ruthie had food in her stomach before we got to the cabin rentals. Once we’re done, she pays the bill. I cringe. She’s spending money, which makes me feel like a tool, but then I remind myself that she won’t be needing the money in her bank account for much longer.

Her time left on land is minimal.

I wait for her next to the car. The urge to make a dash for the water is tempting, but there’s a woman inside currently paying the bill that requires me to stay.

When she comes outside, I reluctantly get back into the car. She gets back in the driver’s seat and shuts her door.

“Where to now?” She put the keys into the ignition and starts the car.

“There are cabin rentals a few miles from here.”

She frowns before turning to look at me. “How do you know all this?”

“It’s not my first time on land.”

“You come on land a lot?”

“Enough.”

“Okay,” she says. “Let’s just get to where we’re going. I don’t enjoy being stuck in the car.”

Me too. I mutter the directions to her and within a few minutes, we’re sitting outside the cabin office. The open sign flashes in the window.

“Which one do I want?” she asks.

“It doesn’t matter.” All the cabins are relatively secluded. Plus, it’s the off season. I can come and go from the water by the pier further down the beach. When it’s high tide, there’s a tight fit under the wood planks where I can go to dry out without being seen by anyone who passes by.

“How long am I staying?”

I don’t like the way she asks the question. This is the problem with the way I’m affecting her right now. On the one hand, I get what I want. On the other, she seems to lose pieces of herself along the way. Just in the time since we left the facility, she’s acting differently. I don’t know how much of it I’m causing. “How long do you want to stay?”

She shrugs. “I’m not sure. I’m not sure what I can afford either.”

“A few days then. You can always extend it if you want.”

“Okay.”

I go inside with her. The woman behind the desk seems almost surprised that we’re there. Ruthie smiles at her.

“Welcome,” the woman says, turning off the small television that’s blaring the morning news.

“Hi there. We were hoping to rent one of your cabins.” Ruthie sets her purse on the counter. I hang back, my eyes focusing on one of the crooked oil ocean scenes hanging on the wall. Dust gathers on the white of the waves, making them appear more of a yellowish color.

“We have several cottages to choose from.”

I glance over at them, my eyes catching the curve of her ass in the black leggings she has on. There are faint lines where her panties lay against her skin. I’m well aware of how a human can become enthralled with an Oceanid, but I’ve never heard of an Oceanid becoming enthralled with a human.
