Just steps from Praça Alexandre Albuquerque rises the colonial-era Palácio Presidencial, where current head of state José Maria Neves works (though he lives in a private house not far away). The tropical gardens are the primmest in Cabo Verde though the armed guards at the gate will probably stop you from getting too close.

From the palace, descend Avenida Amilcar Cabral to the roundabout. From a spot on the seafront nearby, you can take the classic Praia shot, Platô rising above and topped by the biggest Cabo Verde flag you’ll see on your travels.
