2 Fishing

Fishing is popular throughout the park, with both locals and visitors. Waters frequented by anglers include Celestine, Princess, Maligne and Pyramid Lakes – though there are many smaller nooks.

Fishing is permitted in these lakes as well as many of the park’s other lakes and rivers, including parts of the Athabasca, Maligne and Miette Rivers, as long as you are in possession of a valid permit (day/year C$9.80/34.30). Most of these waters are only open for short seasons, and many others are closed throughout the year. Visit Parks Canada’s fishing regulations website (www.pc.gc.ca/en/pn-np/ab/jasper/activ/activ-experience/ete-summer/peche-fishing) or drop into one of its offices for opening dates and fishing restrictions.
