Chapter Eighteen

Placing my hands against the ground I push myself up. I’m vulnerable on the ground and that’s the way he wants me so he can take advantage of me. No way am I letting that happen. The thought of Simon touching me in any way makes me sick. How can you force yourself on to someone that doesn’t want you? It should put them off, but no, not Simon. He wants this. He’s so brainwashed by these monsters that he knows no better. He just has one mission, and that’s taking me anyway he can get me. Over my dead body.

I charge, going straight for him. He advances coming my way. We collide, fists are thrown in every direction. This is what we were made for, to fight. This is what we know best. It’s all we know. Simon lands a hard punch to my ribs. I stumble back as the impact hits me but I regain my balance just as quickly and smash my elbow into his cheek. He isn’t expecting that and makes the mistake of letting his guard down. It’s the split second I need to lay punches onto his chest and ribs. I feel the blood drip down my hands, my knuckles wearing down.

Simon’s advantage is that he’s quick so I watch his feet. He always steps to the right just before he attacks. Something I learned when fighting him. He steps and I duck just in time, feeling the whoosh of air as his fist narrowly misses my nose. He stops, wiping his sweat on to his sweater. I bring my leg down against his knee. He stumbles back and I launch. I line myself up to tackle him down to the ground but at the last second Simon moves out of the way, and I run past him. His leg collides against my shin. Oh shit. I’m airborne going straight for the ground. I manage to duck my head and roll instead of landing on my face. Phew, that was close. Turning around, I don’t see Simon move until I feel his fist slam against my cheek. I place my arm up protecting my face for the next blow. Simon shoves me and I fall over, landing on my hands and knees. I feel Simon’s foot on my back just before he bears his weight on me, pushing me closer against the ground. The cold of the floor rests against my cheek.

Simon grabs hold of my ponytail and pulls hard. Pain rips through my scalp. He pulls me by my hair lifting me off the ground and flipping me around. My back slams against the ground. I’m jarred for a second. I try to gain my strength back. Simon doesn’t give me any time. He straddles me, pinning my hips with his weight. I thrash my legs and arms, trying to push him off but he already has my legs and arms pinned against his weight. He leans down, resting his weight against my body.
