SMOKE PIPE
If you intend to have a sheet-iron pipe for a smoke stack, let it go out through the roof so as not to make an extra elbow. At the shingle line place a tin or galvanized iron tube the same size as the smoke pipe and fitting into it at the first joint. Let this tube have a flange to fit the pitch of the roof. The upper edge of the flange must be pushed under a course of shingles and then nailed to the roof (Fig. 20).
