“Speaking of which,” said the Vulcan, “have you ever noticed that you can often tell that something’s evil just by what they’re called or where they are?”

“What do you mean?” asked the Wookiee.

“Well, for example, you’ve got the Justice League or the Legion of Superheroes or The Avengers or even The Defenders. They just sound good, right? But then you’ve also got the Sinister Six and the Legion of Doom and the Injustice League. I mean, it’s kind of putting a hat on a hat. Nobody thinks a trip to the Hall of Doom is going to be as uplifting as one to the Hall of Justice. Nobody thinks Mount Doom or an abandoned amusement park or chemical factory would make as great a shared office space as a floor in Avengers Tower or the Baxter Building. And if you name your ship Birds of Prey or Star Destroyers or, heck, Death Star, you’re kind of signaling that you’re up to no good, right?

“And, come on,” the Vulcan continued, “if you choose to call yourself Cruella or Maleficent or Doctor Doom or Evil-Lyn rather than, say, Blossom, Bubbles, or Buttercup, you’re not making the best first impression—and you’re really giving the people at the DMV a lot to talk about. If you work with a group called the Death Eaters or the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants or the Red Lanterns, you’re going to wind up with fewer endorsements on LinkedIn than you would if you’re working for Aperture Science or Fontaine Futuristics. And if you intentionally name your child something like ‘Mr. Sinister,’ ‘Stompa,’ or ‘Karen,’ their charisma points have already taken a pretty big hit before they’ve even had a chance to roll their own dice.”
