Chapter Eight

"I lied."

Nick's first instinct was to move away from her and put space between them. But his limbs wouldn't cooperate. There was barely a breath between them in the recliner, and his itchy palms insisted it was too much.

Inside his chest, his heartbeat slowed, expecting to be dropped down to his ass as Muri revealed her true nature. What would she want from him? His money? His social standing?

Although women never told him of their treachery up front. He usually caught them in the act. Why was Muri admitting it now?

"I've never had an orgasm before," she said.

"Wait—what?" Nick lifted up. But when he did, his body protested the disconnection from her. He resettled himself so that he was on his back and pulled her onto him. "That was the first time you ever came with a man?"

Muri shook her head slowly. She took in a deep breath, as though she had more to say.
