“Your dad was a Marine?” Gus asked as they talked some more.

“Yes, he was killed in combat when I was young. My mom had a pretty hard time with it. Actually didn’t even start dating until a little over a year ago. Clark is okay. He’s safe.”

“What do you mean safe?” Luke asked. She took a deep breath and released it.

“My mom shied away from any relationships with anyone who was a soldier. I think she feared something bad happening again, and didn’t want to be that woman waiting at home for the call. I think back on it and I feel like I made the opposite mistake with Mike.”

“What do you mean?” Gus asked.

She swallowed hard and Gus was on edge. Could she be fearful of this relationship, of trusting them because they were soldiers? At least he, Clint and Quincy were still actively involved. Not on the same dangerous levels but still engaging in things that could be dangerous?

“Well, I’ve had time to think about it. It was also why I built up the courage and anger to leave Mike for cheating on me. I mean that was the last straw, you know? “It wasn’t all you though. He took advantage of what you needed and he tainted it.”

“Oh, I know that, and if I’m at all honest with myself I can admit that I knew what he was doing, but became dependent on him, and felt stuck.”

“Why?” Gus asked. She took a deep breath and exhaled and looked at them.

“He was my first, and my only lover. I felt compelled to try and make it work.”

“No one else, Casey?” Luke asked and she shook her head.

“God, I shouldn’t have revealed that.”

“Yes, you should have because your honesty is refreshing and it helps us to really know how honest you are, and to understand your reservations,” Gus said to her.

“You’re all so much older and more experienced though.”

“Your lack of experience is a major fucking turn on, baby. I’m being honest and I hope you don’t think I’m a dick for saying it, but it makes you even more appealing,” Luke told her and he caressed her hair.

“Well, that makes me feel better,” she said and Gus pressed between her legs and cupped her cheeks.

“We have our reservations too, for
