“Happy two-year anniversary, baby.” Michael said, holding the sparkling-juice-filled glass out in front of him.

“Happy anniversary, love.” Sonya smiled, and the two clinked glasses and took sips of their juice.

For the remainder of the night, they munched on seafood for dinner and cheesecake for dessert. Followed by a sweaty sex session when they arrived home.

Monday was back to their usual routine. Michael woke up at six in the morning, took a fifteen-minute shower, shuffled through his clothes before getting dressed for work. While Michael followed his routine, Sonya awoke half an hour after six. She brushed her teeth, cleaned her face, dressed in a housedress, and made her way to the kitchen to start breakfast. Scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast.

Just like yesterday. When Michael finished dressing, he walked into the kitchen to sit and talk with his wife while enjoying whatever breakfast they had. This was their daily work-week routine. Not much excitement, but they we still settling into married life.

After breakfast, Michael kissed his wife ado and left for work. While he was off to work, Sonya situated herself and settled into her home office to start work. She was fortunate being able to work from home permanently, as her job decided it was the best route for the company. The company saved money on rent and utilities by closing one of their four locations. Plus, it proved favorable to their employees, to which they saw an uptick in productivity. Working from home not only allowed Sonya to get her work done, but it also allowed her to get some much-needed stuff around the house completed. A win for her and her sanity.

The workday crawled on without much of anything. Normal, like always, but sometimes quiet. The couple did their usual things. Sonya read and processed numbers while Michael drew up unique designs for a new art school being developed in the central part of town. Neither deviated from their usual tasks. Yep, things had become pretty routine for the couple. Though in four months, life would change with the new addition to their family.

“Breaking news coming out of Britlin County, where another body has been discovered,” the news anchor announced. Sonya spun her head, grabbed the remote, and turned up the volume.

“Police say that the body of an unidentified male was discovered at Losa Creek, off I-4, deformed and drained of all his fluids. No weapons have been found near the creek however, authorities will not comment further, pending the investigation. We will keep you up to date when new information is provided. This has been the fourth body discovered in the past three months in the county in this way. Authorities say, they have no doubts the crimes were committed by the same person. I am Camille Holmes and you’re watching channel ten news.”

“What the hell is going on?” Sonya said, staring dumbfounded at the screen. “What is the world coming to?” Ring. Sonya screeched as her cellphone’s ringer fought for her attention. She ran to her desk and looked at the screen.
