I try to be careful, but I sometimes fall in love.

This book is intended to be a simple love story. About failing in love, about understanding that other person. My belief is that every human being is alone and lonely.

The title, Twinkle Twinkle, I took from a poem by Yasuo Irizawa.

Two of the chapter titles were taken from paintings, The Sleepers and One That Watcheth and The Star-sower. I forget who painted the latter, but the former is by Simeon Solomon. It depicts a group of three people, men and women, cheek to cheek—a strange and beautiful painting. Simeon Solomon, who lived in the 19th century, was cast out by the art world when he was suspected of homosexuality.

To be perfectly honest with you, I think it's reckless to love and trust another person. It's clearly foolhardy.

I'd like it very much if the many daredevils who go ahead anyway enjoyed this book.
