Adam and Eve were kicked out of Eden and denied access to the tree of life because Jehovah was dead-set against it—but living 900 years after a quick “eat and run” episode is pretty impressive.

As far as Jehovah was concerned death, not life, was the order of the day. He reveled in it. He continually challenged himself to come up with new ways to kill people and/or make them kill each other. This was theatre, and he had to be entertained in his own warped and gruesome ways. Would a kind, loving God announce, “And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons, and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of their friend”? No sane person could think of a reason for this to happen, much less enjoy watching it.
