Finally, we pulled up in front of Tyler and Margret's house and I threw the car in park. Layla was cheering in the back as she undid her seatbelt. I looked over to Nadia, who was hiding behind her long pink hair like a shield. I reached over to her slowly and tucked her hair behind her ear, only to find that she looked like she was going to puke. "Hey. It's going to be ok. Ok?" I whispered to her reassuringly. She lifted her head to the side and gave a weak smile, following a large swallow of her nerves.
"You've got my back if I clam up?" She whispered back, sucking her bottom lip in between her teeth.
It was precious. She was looking for courage, and she looked to me. I couldnât quite explain why that meant so much to me. But it did. It made me feel needed, wanted. It made me feel more secure because it wasn't out of shame that she was worried. If she was ashamed, there was no way that she would look to me to be her strength, as she told them. Something that I was more than happy to do for her. Since I would gladly stand on the top of the Empire State building and shout it into the sky if I could.
"Of course," I muttered to her, taking her chin in my hand, pulling her close enough to place a small kiss on those full lips of hers before getting out of the car so I could free Layla from being trapped in the back seat.

Keeping her head low, she went to walk around me, but I grabbed her arm and spun her to face me, causing her to let a small laugh bubble out of her. Using both hands, I brushed her hair behind her ears before resting my hands on the side of her neck, taking in her beauty, still not quite used to the fact that she was mine. Finally, after these years, Nadia Archer was mine. "They will be happy for us, I just know it. Don't overthink it, ok?"
She beamed up at me, a small burst of pride resonating in her eyes. Those green eyes that could hypnotize anyone if she wanted them to. They held so much life and strength, and they completely enamored me. "Ok." She muttered, averting her eyes, but still smiling. Her expression reminding me so much of the innocent girl I first met. Despite all she had gone through, and how much she had changed, one thing that I admired the most about her was that she still held onto the girlish innocence, even just a little. She hadnât let the world harden her or dull the shine she held.
Pulling her face up to mine, I kissed her. Unable to control myself. I had a feeling that it was
