Many trainers refuse to work with unmotivated clients, period. They will tell owners in no uncertain terms that unless they get in line and start working with the dog, they should find another trainer. I can understand that. Before I get to that point, though, unless I think the situation is completely hopeless, I will try to find a way to make things work. This does not mean continually accepting excuses or a total lack of effort. It means understanding this is the real world and people have busy lives. And it doesn't hurt to remember that we are all human and sometimes we need a little help to get where we need to go.
