Integration affirmation
I consciously receive new insights and ideas, and
integrate these into my being. I allow myself to integ-
rate all aspects and layers of my up-levelling. I am
ready for growth. I’m ready for the next stage.
TRUST THAT OUT OF CHAOS,
YOUR CLARITY WILL COME.

SWEET, SWEET CLARITY
And just like every song I haven’t heard yet,
no I didn’t know the words in front of me.
GAVIN JAMES, NERVOUS
I’ve been going to pottery lately. When I started, I had to remind myself that it was okay to be a beginner again. I had to understand that when I throw my clay down on the wheel, while I might have an idea of what I want the final mug or bowl to look like (I haven’t worked out how to make a plate yet), I can’t see it yet. All I see in the beginning is a mound of clay—completely mouldable and moveable, but still just a lump of clay—and I have to keep my bigger vision in my sights, but also let the mug or bowl (and hopefully one day, a plate) become what it needs to become, or something better.
Mostly, my final pieces have looked better than I expected, not because I’m the most brilliant potter in the world, but because seeing what was once just a dream for the clay slowly become a tangible, solid object in my hands—seeing my dream come to fruition—is even sweeter than the dream of it.
If your time spent dreaming is sometimes sweeter than your goal becoming realised, you’re chasing the rush of the unknown, perhaps even the rush itself—the planning and dreaming and scheming—and not the solid ground of your dreams and goals.
If you get to the end goal and don’t feel anything, or you feel flat, or you wonder ‘is this it?’ then maybe you’ve been chasing for the sake of it, and not because you’re focused on what you’re making. Maybe you’ve been chasing external success, instead of internal fulfilment. Maybe you’ve not been reaching for the stars that you truly want to reach for, but for the ones you think you should be reaching for.
Instead of just chasing, ask yourself: ‘What do I really want to make and create and receive in my life? How can I take action and make space to do this?’ The process to make and open up to it is important, but so is the acknowledgement, awareness and pride when the goal actually becomes a reality.
The same can be said for so many of our dreams. We might not always know what the outcome will be, but we can stay centred with clarity and focus; we can invite our vision to stay (or come back), to keep us on track, to help us see clearly again, and to help us enjoy the whole ride.
