1 This scioglilingua gives you the chance to practice the double l, which in Italian is more emphasized than a single l but not pronounced as in William (which is after all closer to the Italian gli). Think of the Italian l as more similar to the l in English at the beginning of a word: laugh, leave, lonely, or better, yet, llama.

4 Note that while in English the use of “Dear” is perfectly acceptable in formal correspondence even with strangers, in Italian it connotes familiarity and should only be used with people with whom one is on a first name basis.
