Among Angels 3

The wind rushed into the throne room as Samayaza sat on his royal chair. He knew who was coming by the charged ripples in the air. Though he despised his brother for his devotion to their first purpose, he had to admit his powers were astonishing. If only he would stop fighting against him in everything he tried to do within this realm, they would accomplish greatness that could never be matched.

The doors burst open, hitting the walls behind them in a loud thunder that would have woken the dead. Samayaza grinned at Daniel’s display of power; he had always wondered how strong and deep his powers ran. The Creator had made him with special care, and now, Samayaza was getting a glimpse of what they were.

The wind whipped stronger, the veils in between the pillars moved violently, and Samayaza’s grin was no longer there. Azazzel materialized, along with three other unearthly beings. Two stood on either side of the throne where Samayaza sat, on guard and ready to protect the one they pledged allegiance to.

Eyes upon the doors, they waited, but it was in vain as Daniel began to descend directly behind Samayaza’s throne with all his angelic glory. Samayaza was growing impatient. He needed to know where Daniel was but could only see him through his mind’s eye. He could see Daniel’s grand and enormous wings but could not locate him. Lightning crackled all around the throne room, creating an atmosphere of chaos. He knew it would not take much effort for Daniel to fold them all into his wingspan and suffocate the life out of each of them. But something kept him calm, which irked Samayaza. He could sense Daniel’s clear state of mind and controlled temper.

Anger had made them both stumble once, and that was more than enough for either one of them to never allow that to occur again. There was something far more at risk than petty human emotions.

Samayaza still could not locate him. He was near or even within the room, but he couldn’t attest to it. He looked at Azazzel for validation, and he also confirmed the same. Daniel was here somewhere.

Samayaza’s demeanor shifted drastically. He knew Daniel was quick to learn, which meant he would gain control faster than any of them. Where only a mere moment ago he had sat confidently waiting for Daniel’s predictable behavior, he now sat on the edge of his throne, legs at a wide stance, elbow resting on one leg and ready to rise and defend if the powerful guardian appeared. This feeling of anxiousness was new to Samayaza; how his mind made his human body react was most unpleasant. The mortal shell he had taken on was not what he’d expected, nor was he prepared for how his will was so easily swayed by such emotions. He needed discipline and control, so he homed in on the angelic fire that was his true self. There was no red blood in him but only glorious fire that would consume all.
