Upward pressure from the mantle counterbalancing the plunging weight of the shelf might keep sections of the bottom in a touchy teeter-totter harmony. Tracking satellite glitches, sometimes reported over this area, might be the only evidence for these brief tugs-of-war.
Phases of the moon may even temporarily affect the magnetic field lines if they have been made touchy by a past cataclysm. According to Russian engineer Dr. A. J. Yelkin, some unexplained magnetic deviations recur in the Triangle frequently enough to be plotted. These have been at the new moon, full moon, and when the moon is closest to the Earth.
Satellite imaging shows the continental shelves of the Triangle. East of Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina they plunge gradually, possibly all the way down to Puerto Rico, leaving several freestanding banks, like the Great and Little Bahama Banks, on the greater continental shelf.

Yelkin deduces that the magnetic deflections at these times are caused by lunar solar tides. This would also explain Dr. David Zinkâs reports of unexplained magnetic deviations at Bimini each year in early August, a time coinciding with a full moon.
Areas of the Bahamas, near the deep drop-off, are also the only place in the world subject to the phenomenon of the âglowingâ or âwhite waters,â
plumes of smoky white water venting up from somewhere in the bottom.
They float and disperse with the currents, giving the appearance of wisps of clouds being rippled by the wind. While their source remains mysterious, tests of the water indicate a high sulfur and possibly lithium contentâperhaps released by the subsurface instability near these deep underwater cliffs.
While it would seem that the unstable nature of the Atlantic would give rise to numerous reports of odd electromagnetic anomalies everywhere, the reason for the Bermuda Triangleâs fame may be that it is simply more traveled, and hence mathematical probability dictates a better chance that these anomalies will be encountered there and give rise to comment. It may also mean that the continental shelves and the deep bottoms of the Triangle provide more potential for shifts and force-field anomalies, whereas the bottoms far from the continental shelves are more static.
Vestiges of the Atlantic-centric catastrophe are not only omnipresent on the Atlantic seafloor; they literally girdle the globe. There is ample proof that most of the major mountain ranges and geologic formations in the world were created in response to a cataclysm in the Atlantic. The great mountain ranges of the Earth are all located away from their Atlantic side, that is, for North America the Sierra Madre, Cascades, and Rockies, which extend through western areas of the United States, Canada, and Mexico; for South America, the Andes along its western half; and for Euro-Asia
