Keep busy

Take your eyes off time. If you are busy calculating how long you have on fasting after every couple of minutes, you will only be hungry. If you are aware of every minute of fasting, you can do better. If you are at work, do an intensely engaging activity. Stay away from the dining room while your colleagues eat. The sights and smells of the food will only trigger emotional hunger.

If you are at home, it can become even more difficult since the kitchen is right there calling you. Commit to doing something you find interesting. Watch a movie. Read a book. Draw or paint. Do some gardening. Or even get some sleep.

If being at home is too tempting, you can leave and run errands, go to the park, jog/walk, visit a friend or go to the theatre. Keep your mind focused on something else and avoid the obsession with food.
