“Just remember, these things can probably augment a body into any shape. That tentacle was probably a residual from the former Tgh Sxnek it possessed. We don’t know how many other species it has conquered,” Renny said.

“Is one coat of that quantum shield enough to secure the infirmary?”

“You know the quantum realm, Mate. One quantum brush-stroke would equal about two hundred thousand visual strokes. The rest of the inner coating is for the other gardening spray canisters.”

“I'm just nervous, Renny. I cannot think when I’m spooked,” Nyonga said.

“This isn’t a rifle, Guys. We’re equipped with water soakers,” Morgan said.

“That ‘water soaker’ is filled with anti-virus. It’ll save your life, Lass,” Renny said. “What do you call yourself now?”

“Hardcore Helen takes too long to say, Nyonga.” She looked at Renny. “I’m doing Brash Baller status now. Call me Mo.”

“Mo, eh? That sounds manly. What’s your real name?”

“I have to fake my man on the track. My full name is Morgan… Did you hear that creak?”

Renny stopped them.

“Prepare yourselves. This is a new Arclight battlecruiser, not an old rickety dwelling. That creak has an owner.”

They cautiously walked down the corridor with random light indicators methodically blinking in the dark.

“When did they turn off the overheads?” Nyonga asked.

“They aren’t animals, Mate. They must have deductive tactical skills. We aren’t just stepping on roaches this time. Did you think this would be just taking out the trash? Grabbing an alien will get more dangerous than you ever thought. I saw that tentacle grab the admiral and this won’t be an in and out mission. We left together, but I’d feel lucky if we return together.”

“Way to help me be less spooked, Renny. You don’t interact with too many people being a quantum chemist I see.”

“I’m fine, Mate. I didn’t even get time to vaccinate myself and they still don’t scare me one bit.”

“Your recklessness is concerning me, not making me feel more comfortable.”

“As I tell all my teammates, stay together, don’t complain, and we’ll win this game,” Morgan said. “There’s light up ahead.”

“That’s the bridge,” Renny said. “I didn’t want to just get out of the elevator with them waiting for us, so I took the back way.”

“How do you know of a back way?” Nyonga asked.

“I read the ship’s map when the ensign gave it to me at the door. You got one too. How do you not know of alternate routes?”

“I never wanted to go on a tour of a battleship, so I never clouded my mind with anything other than the bridge, my quarters, the bathrooms, the cafeteria, and sickbay. The bar never excited me,” Nyonga said.

“We’re near the bridge, get rea…” A door slid open quickly and Morgan was cut off by a ghoulish beast!

It grabbed her and slammed her against the wall of the corridor!

Her scream alerted Nyonga from his shock and he doused the alien. It reverted to human form and fell to the floor unconscious!

“I’m happy your soaker worked! I was not expecting that sneak-attack!”

“Carry it to the infirmary, quick! We’re about to get some company from the bridge!” Renny yelled.
